In this paper, I will present my opinion toward short story ″ The Lagoon ″ by Joseph Conrad. This story is full of darkness, crime, betrayal, and regret. In this story, Conrad describe Arsat as a poor person. At that period, illustrated when Arsat wants to marry Diamelen as a servant belong to Rajah's wife, he should have a lot of many. I think Arsat should hard work to get Diamelen. But, if he really can’t get Diamelen, he doesn’t need to impose himself. About a servant who was exist owner must is bought. I disagree about that. Because, it’s mean trafficking human. And it’s violate human rights and the act is inhumane. Rajah and his wife are really cruel people. They should can let Diamelen marry with Arsat. Everyone has their own right for marrying anyone. Hence rajah couldn't forbid anyone to get married.

Arsat’s brother is very kind and generous. But, in this life we have to realistic. Both to brother or another person. Because his kindness, he is betrayed by Arsat who is he loved. He willingly immolate himself for Arsat’s happiness. Arsat’s brother should think for happiness himself. Because, Arsat also just think his love life. I think they should help each other to get Arsat’s lover.
